Wraps with chips, big salads, nice boards of various dishes. Location is nice, was very busy when we attended, however everything moves very quickly.

THE FARM CAFE

Watch out for the wasps. Had a lovely breakfast on the weekend. Service was fast, food was fresh and tasty.

Only problem was the wasps. Half way through the meal two wasps would not leave us alone. We had to keep leaving our table while they hovered over our food. We asked to move tables, however there was nothing free. We quickly finished our meals and left. On leaving we were told they are "gentle wasps" either way we didn't want to hang around.

THE RETREAT HOTEL

Great place to come for a quiet meal or drink. Wonderful old pub with charming decor and a homely feel. The dining room is more like an old pub in Ireland, with open fires and beautiful windows.

Service was very friendly and the menu has something for everyone. We had the chicken parma and the pie of the day. Both came out hot and fresh with perfectly cooked chips.

Wonderful place to come have a meal or a drink and not be overwhelmed with loud music or an unruly crowd.

BEER DELUXE

Stay for a beer, skip the burgers. Great selection of beers to choose from with a nice outside area to sit. You can only get the beers in scooner size which helps you spend more and get less beer.

Burgers are a waste of time. Buns are almost flat and the beef pattie tasted like it was frozen from a factory. Walk up the path a little and grab one from the Mr burger truck in fed square

NOT TONIGHT

It's great to have a small bar in Southport with craft tap beer.

Stone and Wood on tap with tapas style dishes. Favourite is the prawns which we tried during the Chinatown street night and decided to come back for a meal a few days later.

Sunday nights they have a ribs and wings special.

Well worth a look for a Melbourne style small bar.

Very relaxed settling. Service was excellent, attentive, however gave us enough space to enjoy our meal.
Food was very good. Presentation, quality and flavour were excellent.

BLACK COFFEE LYRICS

We have tried this place twice now. First time we dropped in for a coffee to have a look at the menu and taste the coffee. Two flat whites, average in taste and had an almost burnt aftertaste.

We tried a Wednesday night for dinner. We arrived just before 6pm and were told we can't order until 6pm. We ordered some drinks and went over the menu. On special were Beef Ribs & Chicken wings. The first person who told us the specials said the Beef Ribs were a small rack enough for TWO people as a serve. On ordering from a different person when I ordered ONE serve of the ribs the just huffed and questioned why we were ordering ONE serve as we would only get one rib. I said if thats the case we will have two ribs, two wings and a tomato salad all to share. Short while later the same waiter came out to tell us its a rack so we changed our order to ONE serve.

Food came out, ribs were ONE large rib.

The two wings were ONE wing broken into two pieces.

Rib was a good size and enough to share with the other dishes. The wing was disappointing as ordering TWO wings you would expect TWO full wings not one broken into two parts. At $2.50 per wing I expected a lot more. The tomato salad was enjoyable.

Food was of good standard, service was hit and miss. Having to wave your hands around to order another drink is painful.
Temped to try the breakfast, however with the disappointing coffee it's a tough decision.

2015 - DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT BOOK

Originally this blog only covered Perth, however we have expanded our book usage to various various parts of Australia.

We are now using the digital version of the Entertainment book. Initially the app was totally unreliable, with constant freezing and wiping of user accounts right at the moment you wanted to redeem. It's not perfect, but it's a lot better than it was. Having the app has increased our chances of using the Entertainment book during unplanned outings.
